Central bank issues loans to commercial banks for subsidized loans for earthquake victims
According to Nepal Rastra Bank spokesperson Trilochan Pangeni, NRB has already started issuing loans to commercial banks to provide loans to earthquake victims who wish to reconstruct their homes at 2 per cent per annum interest rate.
Phul Kumari Mahato Memorial Trust disbursed Rs 30 million in quake-hit districts
Of the promised Rs 150 million, Upendra Mahato has disbursed immediate relief materials worth Rs 30 million in the earthquake-affected districts through Phul Kumari Mahato Memorial Trust. The trust is now working to begin reconstruction of schools in the earthquake-affected districts with the remaining Rs 120 million, informed Rojina KC of the trust.
Chaudhary Group constructs 500 homes, five schools
Of the promised 1000 transitional homes, Chaudhary Group (CG) has already completed construction of 500 houses, according to Madhusudan Paudel, general manager of corporate affairs at CG. These houses have been built in Machchhegaun (Kathmandu), Burunchuli, Lokundole (Lalitpur), Dolalghat (Kavrepalanchowk) and Changunarayan in Bhaktapur. According to Paudel, CG is currently working to build similar houses in Ramechhap and Sindhupalchowk districts hopes to hand over a total of 1000 transitional homes to the victims in the next three months. The organization has also rebuilt five schools of the promised 100 in Kavrepalanchowk, Gorkha and Bhaktapur.
Confederation of Nepalese Industries yet to start constructing houses
The construction of 100,000 houses that CNI promised to build in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity for earthquake-affected families haven’t yet started informs Sushma Shrestha, program development manager at Habitat for Humanity.
Golchha Organization has constructed just one model house
Golchha Organization stated in May that it will construct 100 houses in 100 days at Pipaltar of Kavrepalanchowk and complete construction of 1,000 houses under its Ashraya Project. According to Sushma Shrestha of Habitat for Humanity, only one model house for demonstration purpose has been built as part of the campaign in Pipaltar so far.
